Practice Leaders: Ed
Coughlin and Cheryl Lemke
How can I measure the impact of my education initiative? Of technology
on learning? How can we gather the right data to answer the challenges
and goals we face? What strategies can help us use data to effectively
guide our education and technology decision-making?
Led by Ed Coughlin and Cheryl Lemke, Metiri Group consultants provide
a full range of education and education technology research and evaluation
services to clients that include schools and school districts, state departments
of education, foundations, nonprofit organizations, and education technology
firms. At Metiri Group we approach evaluation with the multiple needs
of our clients in mind, and craft research and evaluation solutions that
both assess a project's impact and guide future decision making.
Research and Evaluation Services include:
Program Evaluation
Metiri Group has deep strength in education program evaluation with a
specialty in education technology. Click here for a case study of the
Ohio SchoolNet Telecommunity Evaluation, a year-long study of Ohio's 8
year, $32 million interactive video project. Other evaluation projects
include a statewide evaluation of education technology professional development
programs, and evaluations of federal PT3 grant projects and foundation
initiatives.
School Technology Audits
Metiri Group conducts school technology audits that help establish the
current status of learning technology in your school or district. Audits
typically involve site visits, focus groups and online surveys that can
establish and track data over time. See our case study on the Metropolitan
School District of Lawrence Township for more information.
Surveys and Data Collection
Metiri Group designs and hosts custom surveys, assists in the design and
execution of data collection strategies. See tools
for some examples.
Web Content and Applications
Metiri Group consultants develop web content and applications that address
key research and evaluation needs. For IndianaNext, for example, we developed
an online application for data collection and analysis.
Conference Presentations and Facilitation
Our consultants present nationally on research, evaluation and accountability
issues. Most recently, Kirk Vandersall and Ed Coughlin presented a workshop
at NECC called MeasureIT! Tools and Strategies for Gauging the Impact
of Technology. See our Presentations page for more information on where
to find and how to book Metiri Group Consultants.
Research and Evaluation Design and Advisory Services
Metiri Group consultants are available to assist in the design of large
scale and local research and evaluation projects, and advise education
and technology leaders on accountability and evaluation strategies.
